What is Advocacy?
Advocacy is the act of representing and defending the rights and interests of others. It can be as little as a comforting companion or as much as a fierce defender. What level of advocacy is needed is based on your prior experience with the school and the level of need experienced by your child. We strive to cultivate positive relationships with schools and assume good intentions whenever possible. But, we do not shy away from correctly stating IDEA law when misstatements are made by school personnel.
What Does An Advocate Do?
Advocates work to ensure that families receive fair treatment, access to resources, and opportunities to have their voices heard in meetings with school teams. Whether the goal is improved IEP goals or defending a student from expulsion, we make sure your voice is heard and you understand the process and results.
